To
sell in eBay, sellers create
individual listings for each item they
have for sale.
eBay then displays listings of
similar - or even identical - items
from other sellers next to each other.
Although sellers have the
option of grouping their listings into an
"eBay Store" (for
an additional
fee), sellers ultimately compete directly with all
the other sellers' items on ebay.com.
PrestoStore
takes the opposite approach.
Rather than maintaining a
network of individual listings,
PrestoStore builds a showcase of
individual sellers.
Each merchant creates their own
web store (a "PrestoStore"), and
then populates their PrestoStore with
all the items they have for sale.
Each PrestoStore is
independently hosted at the seller's
own domain name (www.yourdomain.com),
each with its own search bar, shopping
cart, and checkout system.
PrestoStore grants each seller
the opportunity to cross-sell their
own items to each shopper, rather than
the eBay approach where customers shop
for items within their entire network of sellers.
