Sell more and pay less.

Which service sells more: eBay or an independent web store?

Since PrestoStore uses many of the same marketing and promotion techniques as eBay Store, we expected PrestoStore to sell at least as much as eBay Store in our challenge.  But what we really tested was the impact of PrestoStore's single seller approach: does PrestoStore's "independent web store" system work as well as eBay's "multiple seller network"?  Although both PrestoStore and eBay Store provide many of the same marketing and promotion techniques to their sellers, can an independent PrestoStore sell as well as eBay's network of sellers?

During our 30-day challenge, PrestoStore actually outsold eBay Store by nearly twice as much in terms of the number of items sold and overall sales revenue generated.  Yet, PrestoStore cost nearly 5 times less than eBay as a percentage of selling costs.
